Article XIV. WRECKERS |
§ 8-614. Going to accident location unlawfully; exception.
(a)
Class A and B wreckers. It shall be unlawful for any wrecker or towing operator to go to a scene of a wrecked vehicle, unless called by the sheriff's radio dispatcher. It shall be unlawful for any wrecker or towing operator to go to the scene of a wrecked vehicle by reason of information received by shortwave or police or sheriff's radio.
(b)
Class C wreckers. Class C wreckers shall only respond to those scenes where they are required. Any wrecker or towing operator receiving a scene call for a Class C wrecker shall immediately notify the sheriff's radio dispatcher.
(c)
Exception. In the event that an accident occurs involving a hazardous material load, the county fire department shall have the authority to identify the wrecker or towing operator that has demonstrated proficiency to the county fire department in the handling of hazardous material loads.
