Article XIV. WRECKERS |
§ 8-601. Definitions.
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Rotation call list means the list maintained by the county sheriff's office containing the names of the wrecker or towing operators who are eligible to be contacted by the sheriff's dispatcher, on a rotational basis, to respond to calls requiring towing services.
Storage means storing a motor vehicle within or on a building or place being used by a towing operator as his place of business.
Wrecked or towed vehicle means any vehicle that has been involved in an accident or is otherwise disabled or inoperable.
Wrecker means any vehicle specifically designed by the manufacturer for the express purpose of towing vehicles.
Wrecker or towing operator means any person engaged in the business of offering towing service by use of a wrecker or otherwise removing of disabled motor vehicles from the place where they have been disabled by use of a wrecker.
Zone means a geographical area in the county defined by boundaries and wherein a wrecker or towing operator is authorized to perform towing service, as more specifically set forth in the rules promulgated by the sheriff's office.
