§ 4-133. Disposition of animals.

  • Except as otherwise provided herein, the section manager may transfer custody or ownership or otherwise dispose of an animal impounded pursuant to the provisions of this chapter where:

    (1)

    An animal is unclaimed after three business days; or

    (2)

    In the event that any animal is found to be injured or diseased past recovery, the section manager shall authorize the lawful destruction of such animal. However, where the section manager makes every reasonable effort based on the situation to identify and notify such animal owners or keepers, and where such efforts fail, resulting in the destruction or other disposal of the animal, the section manager shall be deemed to have complied fully with due process of law, and no owner or keeper shall be entitled to any compensation for loss of the animal.
