§ 4-107. Exemptions.

  • The provisions of this division shall not apply to a dog that caused injury, or threatened to cause injury to a human being while such human being was tormenting, abusing, or assaulting such dog; or to hunting, training, or other dogs while engaged in the following activities:

    (1)

    Hunting dogs when engaged in any legal hunt or training procedure.

    (2)

    Training dogs when engaged in training or exhibiting in legal sports, including, but not limited to, obedience trials, conformation shows, field trials, retrieving trials, or herding trials.

    (3)

    Other dogs when engaged in law enforcement work with law enforcement officials or when engaged in any other legal procedures.
