§ 32-274. Officers and employees generally.

  • The Memphis and Shelby County Port Commission shall be authorized to employ such superintendents, engineers, assistants, consultants and other subordinate officers and employees as may be necessary for the efficient operation of the commission, who shall hold office at the will and pleasure of the commission and shall receive such salaries as may be fixed by the commission; provided that no salary shall be fixed in excess of the sum of $3,000.00 per annum, without the consent and approval of the council of the City of Memphis and the board of county commissioners. The port commission shall certify to the council of the City of Memphis and the board of county commissioners for approval the nomination of all subordinate officers and employees whose salaries shall be fixed in excess of $3,000.00 per annum, but the consent and approval of the council of the City of Memphis and the board of county commissioners to any salary or nomination shall not be necessary where the salary of any subordinate officer or employee shall be less than $3,000.00 per year.
