§ 2-287. Additional appropriations authorized.

  • (a)

    The board of county commissioners is hereby authorized from time to time to appropriate such additional funds as may be necessary to enable the sheriff to defray the necessary cost of arresting criminals, the expenses of furnishing and operating the county jail and maintaining the state and county prisoners therein, and generally administering the criminal courts building and all other necessary and proper expenses incurred in the proper and efficient administration of his office, as well as the general enforcement of law and order in the county.

    (b)

    Such funds may be appropriated by proper resolution of the board of county commissioners to cover any deficiency that may exist in the amount turned over by the sheriff to the county trustee on fees collected by him during his entire term of office, as allowed by law, and the amount of his actual necessary expenses, including his own salary and that of his deputies, as well as the additional expenditures made necessary by the maintenance of the county jail and criminal courts building and the preservation of law and order.
