Division 1. GENERALLY |
§ 2-150. Powers of executive branch.
The county mayor shall be the chief executive officer of the county government. The county mayor is hereby authorized to administer, supervise and control all departments created by resolution pursuant to this article, except as herein otherwise specifically provided. Such administration shall be by and through the department heads and other officials of government under the supervision and control of the county mayor. In addition to the duties set forth in the county Charter, the county mayor shall:
(1)
Appointments, etc. Appoint and suspend or remove, with or without cause, all subordinate officers and employees, except as otherwise set forth herein.
(2)
Executive and administrative powers. Have and exercise all executive and administrative powers granted to and exercised by the board of county commissioners and its chair prior to the effective date of the Act from which this section derives, except as may otherwise be provided by such Act.
(3)
Staff meetings. Hold staff meetings of all department heads and such other officials of the county government as he shall deem necessary.
(4)
Organization. Consolidate and reorganize the various county administrative departments and offices, including those established pursuant to this article, upon concurrence by the board.
(5)
Accounting systems; warrants. Countersign, either in person or by facsimile, all warrants in payment of obligations of the county government to be signed by the director of the division of administration and finance.
