§ 26-26. Creation, membership.

  • The board of county commissioners may create a planning commission. The chairman of the board of county commissioners, the commissioner of public roads if there is such commissioner, the county engineer and the chairman of the planning commission of each municipality in such county, shall be ex officio members of the commission. The board of county commissioners shall appoint five citizen members to such commission who shall be residents of the county, and whose term of office shall be three years, except that the respective terms of the five citizen members first appointed shall be respectively one for one year, and two for three years. Such appointive members shall hold no other public office or position except that any of them may be an appointive member of the municipal, regional, state or other planning commission. All members of the county planning commission shall serve as such without compensation and shall hold office until their successors are duly appointed and qualified. Any appointive member may be removed for cause by the board of county commissioners after due notice of charges filed in writing, and after a public hearing. Any vacancy in appointive membership shall be filled by the board of county commissioners for the unexpired term.
