§ 24-291. Immediate notice to sheriff's department.

  • The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to or death of any person or property damage in any apparent extent of $400.00 or more shall immediately, by the quickest means of communication, give notice of such accident to the sheriff's department. Whenever the driver of a vehicle is physically incapable of giving an immediate notice of an accident as required by this section, and there was another occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident capable of doing so, or whenever the driver is not the owner of the vehicle, such occupant or the owner shall make or cause to be given the notice not given by the driver.
