§ 16-66. Exemptions from article.

  • None of the terms or prohibitions of this article shall apply to or be enforced against:

    (1)

    Any vehicle while engaged upon necessary public business.

    (2)

    Excavations or repairs of bridges, streets, or highways by or on behalf of the city, county or state during the night, when the public welfare and convenience render it impossible or unreasonable to perform such work during the day.

    (3)

    The reasonable use of amplifiers or loudspeakers in the course of public addresses which are noncommercial in character.

    (4)

    The use of sound trucks on behalf of candidates or questions during the hours of 10:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m., on the day of any municipal, county, state or national general or special election, primary or referendum.

    (5)

    Regattas or boat races as approved and provided for by state law.
